4B have been learning all about ELECTRICITY this half term.
What have they been finding out?
In science we carried out investigations to find out which materials were good electrical conductors and which were electrical insulators.
We used this information to make our own switches using materials in the classroom such as paper clips, cardboard, foil and split pins.
For example, this switch will light the bulb when the top piece of cardboard is pressed down and touches the bottom piece of cardboard.
This switch will light the bulb when the paper clip swings round and touches both split pins.
We used this knowledge to design and make our own torches.
We had to make a circuit which included a switch. This needed lots and lots of patience!
This was the first successful torch to work!
We were all very proud that after many attempts and lots of determination, we all succeeded in making our torches work!
