SMSC & British Values
Schools, as part of a broad and balanced curriculum, have a duty to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development (SMSC) of pupils at the school and of society. Schools should promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
At Chopwell Primary School we take these values seriously and work to embed them across the curriculum and through visits and extra-curricular activities. We value the ‘whole child’, their spirituality, physicality, background, roots and cultures. We constantly strive to provide rich, deep learning opportunities and to celebrate those things that are different between us and those things that bind us together.
