Chopwell Primary School has a great link with a primary school in China. During the Easter holidays in 2016, Miss Shepherd, Mr Marriner, Miss Grey and Mrs Dodd were given the amazing opportunity of travelling to Shanghai to visit our link school and teach some English lessons. They received a warm welcome from the staff and children at Luwan Central Number 2 Elementary School, our Chinese international schools partner. Our teachers prepared and taught some English Culture lessons that involved speaking, listening and writing, the lessons included places to visit in England, landmarks, the weather and the food we eat. The children really enjoyed the lessons and many said that they would like to visit England.
Before visiting China our teachers were asked to send an English play script over to the teachers at Luwan Elementary as the children were taking part in an English play competition. The Three Little Pigs was the chosen play script, and while our teachers were at Luwan Elementary the children performed the play for them. It was fantastic to see the children acting out a traditional English play.
A huge thank you to Mrs Fellowes-Prynne for making the trip possible and to Mrs Cheun Jin from Luwan Elementary School for making the teachers welcome.
