Year 4, Miss Grey
Hello and welcome to Y4's class page! Thank you for taking the time to visit us. We have lots of fun in Y4 and we are a very hard working class. We enjoy learning through a topic each half term. Our topic for Summer 1 is 'Raiders and Invaders' and we will be finding out all about the Vikings as well as reading our class novel 'The Saga of Erik the Viking.' Scroll down to see the exciting things we have been up to in school as well as important information and links to access from home. Online learning will also be posted below as and when it is needed.
Important information
PE kits are needed on a Thursday and a Friday.
Homework goes home on a Monday and is due back on Friday.

You also have access to Time Table Rock Stars and Spelling Shed. Children have a red home learning book at home with user names and passwords for all apps. They should also complete any work in there and bring back to school once they return.

A lot of the team members on the England squad have worked hard not only on the pitch but also in their daily lives. Marcus Rashford campaigned and raised millions of pounds to help children receive free school meals in the holidays. Bukayo Saka, who is only 19 years old, showed great determination and work ethic to get to where he was on Sunday night and is an inspiration to aspiring Sports people. Write one of the team members a letter thanking them for their hard work.

The children are writing a holiday brochure about Sicily in English this half term. Today we tasted traditional Italian foods and thought of language we could use to describe the tastes.
The children loved visiting the Gleeson Homes building site. They learnt all about site safety as well as practising how to lay some bricks. The children talked about how to pursue a career in building.
Y4 really enjoyed their experience day today in English. We had our very own wolf party as we have been working on the picture book 'Wolves in the Walls' during our English writing lessons. The children designed their own masks whilst eating popcorn. We then danced the morning away as wolves to spooky songs! A great time was had by all!

The children worked up a sweat in their fitness lesson this week. They were working very hard on their technique.
We really enjoyed our ukulele lesson today. We remembered a lot of the cords and songs!
In English this week we are writing a set of instructions on how to mummify a pharaoh. Today we followed a set of instructions for part of the mummification process. We didn't have the dead body of a pharaoh to hand so we used tomatoes instead!

Y4 have been practising their adding and subtracting skills this morning using place value counters and charts.
We have been using the story 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' in English this half term. The children really enjoyed our sweet tasting activity. They used a wide range of adjectives to describe the sweets and even created their own sweet names and ideas.
Y4 have started their Science topic 'Electricity'. They had a great time investigating how to make a bulb light up.
