RESOURCES

Throughout the school year we aimed to allocate as much funding as possible to purchasing new equipment that will have a direct impact on our children's ability to develop their sporting abilities in line with the SSPs sporting calendar. We have purchased new sporting equipment such as; badminton resources, netball resources, tag rugby equipment and a variety of balls for various sporting activities. We have invested significantly in high quality coaching through Newcastle United Football Club. The funding allowed all of our children from Reception to year 6 to receive high quality P.E coaching from the NUFC that supported and upskilled our teaching staff to promote independence and a high standard of PE delivery across the school.

SWIMMING

Our year 3/4 pupils attended swimming lessons every week. We are working towards achieving the national expectation of every child being able to swim 25m independently by year 6.

Year 6 leaving in 2019. 21 of 30 (70%) of children could swim 25 meters.

COMPETITION

Both KS1 and KS2 have entered many SSP events in 2018/19.  During the events, the children demonstrated determination, resilience, sportsmanship, passion, empathy and humility. When our children earned their space on the Chopwell Primary School team, they understood what that meant and appreciated how hard they had to work for their position.

Sporting events that Chopwell Primary took part in:

Y3/4 Cross Country Competition

Y5/6 Netball Competition

Y5/6 Tag Rugby Competition

Y3/4 Mini-Basketball Competition

Y5/6 Mini Hockey Competition

Gateshead Schools Dance Festival

Y5/6 Kwik Cricket Tournament
