Find and make number bonds

Today in English we are learning about time conjunctions. Time conjunctions tell us when something has happened for example: first, next, then etc. Click on the document below, cut out the instructions I have given you and put them in the correct order. Once you have put the instructions in the correct order- highlight the time conjunctions and the verbs we learnt yesterday!

NOTE: If you can't print out the document, write them down on a piece of paper cut them out and the children can put them in order.

In this lesson, we are going to be learning all about the wind. Wind is when air moves. We cannot see wind but we can see it moving objects around us. We will then be looking at types of wind and conducting a wind logging experiment.

Science - Seasonal change (Lesson 5)

In this lesson, we will be learning all about hibernation. It is really important for certain animals to hibernate to protect themselves during the cold winter months. We will be looking at different animals who hibernate, when they hibernate, what they do to prepare for hibernation and where they go to hibernate.

Good morning everyone! All online lessons are cancelled today- your challenge is to have fun in the snow. I've suggested some snow based activities below. Have fun you deserve it!

  • Build a brilliant snow man
  • Blow bubbles onto the snow and see if they’ll freeze
  • See what affects the speed of a sledge
  • PE. How high can you build a pile of snow balls in 5 mins- how far can you throw them?
  • Build snow sculptures
  • Squirty bottle with food colouring/paints and water - mark making in the snow or you could use this to mark a target for snow ball throwing
  • Make and look for footprints - compare the sizes.
  • Look for and identify animals footprints in the snow (especially if waking in chopwell woods)
  • Winter scavenger hunt- look for things in nature (icicles/pine cones etc)  
  • Build an igloo
  • Make snowflakes with twigs 

  • Find out how much liquid is in snow- get the children to predict the amount of liquid the snow ball makes when it melts

Today we will use the descriptive sentences from this week to write a winter poem. Start each verse with 'In winter...'. After using that sentence starter, choose 1 sentence for each sense (see, hear and feel) for every verse. Write 3 verses for your poem- here is one of my verses below:

Today in English we are going over to forest school to build a camouflaged house for The Three Little Pigs. The Big Bad Wolf was naughty and broke into the brick house. The Three Little Pigs need a house that the Big Bad Wolf won't be able to find! If you have a garden you can build your own camouflaged house and upload onto the Facebook page or you can draw your house and label how you have made it camouflaged!

Autumn Term 1

 

We are so proud of how well the children have settled into Year 1. They are all so excited to take part in lots of exciting activities and learn lots of exciting things. The children have been learning through plan, do review this half term We have focused on the children's interests and have set up our classroom to suit what they enjoy doing. The children have took an interest in dinosaurs at the moment, and are loving all of the activities we have set up for them.

Dinosaur poo!

 

The children noticed there were 3 big poos in the curiosity box and wanted to investigate which dinosaur had made the mess! We talked about what carnivores, omnivores and herbivores were. The children loved investigating and discussing each poo and figured out the poo with the grass in was from a herbivore the poo with the bones and grass was from an omnivore and the poo with the bones in was from a carnivore.

Snack time

 

During snack time the children use their wallets (with money we have given them) to pay for their snack. They love counting out their money, paying Miss Hillary and eating their fruit.
