Good morning,
Everyday we will upload Maths and English work for the children to complete in the exercise books provided last week. In addition to this, we will also set a topic research project for the children to complete across the week. When children return to school, all completed work should be sent back into school with them so that we can assess what your child has been able to achieve. Furthermore, your child can access 'Timestables Rockstars' and 'Spelling Shed' (where their weekly spellings will be uploaded) on any device with internet. Children should continue to read their book (either school book or book from home) for at least 20 minutes per day.
Any queries you may have over the work your child has been set, please use the 'Chopwell Year 5 Home Learning' page on Facebook. This page will be monitored from 9am-3pm.
Thank you
Miss Hillary, Miss Grey and Mrs Curry

Virtual sports day
Challenge yourself to complete these ten activities over the course of today and ask an adult share pictures and videos with your friends on the Facebook group! You will need someone to time your activities. Who will be able to meet all of the challenges?! Good luck!
1. How long can you balance on one leg blindfolded?
2. How long can you hold the plank for?
3. How long can you can you balance some books on your head before they fall off? Make it harder by standing on one leg! How many books can you balance?!
Balance some books on your head, how far can you walk without them falling off? Make it harder by creating an obstacle course to move round!
4. How many star jumps/burpees can you do in one minute?
5. How many times can you stand up and sit down on a chair in one minute? This will test your leg strength! Want more of a challenge?!? Try this on only one leg!
Bronze = 30 or more
Silver= 50 or more
Gold=60 or more
6. Not quite an egg and spoon race! Ask your adult for what you can use. How many laps of your living room/garden can you do without dropping your egg? You could use your obstacle course from activity 3 to make it harder!
7. How many times can you bounce a ball off a tennis racket without dropping it? You could use a pan and rolled up socks if you don’t have the equipment! Can you flip the racquet round each time you bounce for even more of a challenge?!
8. How many times can you clap between throwing a ball in the air and catching it again? Challenge- clap a rhythm in between catches!
9. How many keepy ups can you do in one minute?
10. Place a cereal box on the floor, how many times can you jump over it in one minute? Don’t squash the box!

Hello and welcome back! We hope you have all had a restful half term. Miss Grey, Miss Hillary and Mrs Curry have lots of fun and exciting learning opportunities planned for the children for this half term.
This half term the children will be working on the topic 'Journey to the Core' and will be reading 'The Matchbox Diary'. We will be looking at a diary-in-objects kept by a character from the story to recount his journey from Italy to America. We will also be thinking of memories that are important to us and objects which we hold close to us.
PE days this half term are Monday and Wednesday - can children make sure they have PE kits on these days.
