In science lessons, we have been investigating air resistance. We created three parachutes and measured the time it took each one to hit the floor. We ensured it was a fair test by dropping each parachute from the same height and using the same classmate to measure the time. We decided what we would change each time (the independent variable) in our teams. Some teams decided to change the material each time and some chose to change the size of each parachute.

The Sea Cadets visited our school today and completed a workshop about buoyancy with years 5 and 6. The children investigated why things float and sink, forces and density. They were then challenged to design and create a boat from a piece of card, tin foil and masking tape to hold cargo (marbles).

In year 6, we took part in an ice workshop with Northumbria University. We learned about how to become an Ice Core Chemist and the attributes we'll need. We analysed ice cores, made vocabulary banks and created poems about glaciers.

In our Science lessons, we have been learning about space and our solar system. We worked in groups to represent the phases of the moon using Oreos.

This week, we have been celebrating our differences, learning about different kinds of bullying and using one kind word as part of anti-bullying week.

In Science lessons, we have investigated how voltage and wire length affects components in circuits.

In Year 6, we have been reading the book Holes by Louis Sachar. We decided to dig holes just like Stanley Yelnats.
