I want you to fill your jar with little pieces of paper with either; things you are looking forward to doing when the world is a safer place or different acts of kindness. Then everyday you can pick one out and hopefully make yourself and your family smile. Yesterday reminded me that we will be back together eventually and that truly is something to look forward to!!

One last thing, remember we use tricky word 'I' when we are talking about ourselves not the sound 'igh'. If you can, upload a picture under mine - I would love to see your super writing!! ***Children write on the purple line, their tall (b, d, h, k, l, t) and capital letters go past the dotted line up to the full line and their descenders (f, g, j, p, q, y) go to the full line below the purple***

Topic

Our topic just now is 'Australian Adventure.' We have studied the geographical side of this topic and learnt about where Australia is on a map, the population and many of its incredible landmarks. My Year 1 children absolutely love learning about the animals and we have therefore began learning about the animals and their habitats (science). When in school the children are given the opportunity to 'show me' what they have learnt through a variety of different resources. I spend about 10 minutes filling their minds with information and then they process and explain their understanding through play. They build with blocks, lego and junk modelling, they paint and draw, they write sentences, captions and labels, we go outside and they create using natural objects like sticks, leaves and mud. The children are incredible at showing me their learning and if possible I want this to continue. I will provide a variety of websites that will help to teach the children about habitats and food chains and I want them to show me with anything they have at home what they have learnt. I have also provided a booklet and if the children want to complete that, this is also ok!!
