Year 6 Miss Hedley
The science team from Consett Academy visited Year 6 today and we investigated the structure and function of the heart. We dissected lamb hearts using a scalpel, tweezers and scissors. We found the ventricles, veins and pulmonary artery and followed the journey that our blood takes through the heart.
In DT lessons, we have designed, created and evaluated bridges for a specific purpose.
In PE lessons, we have been learning a traditional Indian dance. We have been working hard to improve our footwork, co-ordination and overall performance.
In computing, we have been learning about databases. We have been looking at how data is transferred by working collaboratively online. First, we sorted databases into different categories. Then, we created our own databases on the computer.
In art lessons, we have been sketching sea creatures and have used hatching, cross hatching and contour lines. We also learnt about the colour wheel and mixed colours to create secondary and tertiary colours.
