We had a fantastic time learning all about the Great Fire of London! We built our own 17th-century houses using cereal boxes to help us understand what London was like in 1666 and why the fire spread so quickly. We also tried writing with feathers and ink, just like people did in the past and created Great Fire-inspired artwork. To finish our topic, we used everything we had learned to design our own fire safety posters.
We have been busy investigating materials and their properties. We explored which materials would be most suitable for building a strong bridge and thought carefully about why some materials might work better than others. The children then worked brilliantly in teams to design and build their own bridges before testing their strength using rocks. Fantastic teamwork and scientific thinking from everyone!
